LEO Sniper Training Day
Time & Location
About The Event
This training day will be split into 3 phases ensuring attending officers can get the most out of the day.
Phase 1 will start at 09:00 where attendees will have a 60 min live-fire period to check zero, engage steel targets out to 400 yards, practice static barricade positions, and engage the 100 yard moving target.
Phase 2 will begin at 10:00 and be broken down into dual activities: The Urban Field Course consisting of 10 stages with common urban positions, with targets out to 350 yards; The Rural Field course consisting of 10 stages with field style and awkward mountainside positions with targets out to 700 yards. The shooter may choose to shoot each position solo or with a team/teammate. Each position consists of a 3, 2 & 1 minute of angle reactive steel target. Both courses of fire will take exactly 60 rounds to complete. All target distances are given at each stage.
Following the completion of Phase 2, the range will go into a cease-fire and shooters will transition to our long range shooting area to begin phase 3 training, lunch will be incorporated into this break and continue into phase 3 activities.
Phase 3 will include: Our known distance area with 3, 2 & 1 MOA targets out to 1 mile as well as our mover target at 500 yards; Our unknown distance area where officers will need to use a rangefinder, mil-relation formula, or satellite imagery to determine the distance to the target. All targets on the unknown distance range are inside 650 yards and measure 12" allowing the use of the 12" hasty formula.
All targets on the known distance area at 700 yards and beyond have hit indicator lighting systems for hit confirmation. The Long Range shooting area will offer the attendees prone shooting areas as well as multiple props and obstacles that simulate real-world objects to engage all targets from if desired. The facility will also open the "East Canyon: Move and Shoot" course where officers will move in a team setting from position to position inside a 500 yard long canyon engaging targets at multiple distances, angles, from realistic positions at kill zone sized targets. Phase 3 will conclude at 5:00pm and the range will go into a cease fire for the remainder of the day.
If an attendee needs to leave prior to the conclusion, that will not be a problem as long as it is made known to the range staff ahead of time. Coaching will be available throughout the day from any of our Max Ordinate staff regarding positional shooting, moving target engagements, range estimation, and more!
Max student participation is 24 attendees.
